Our women’s self-defense class combines techniques from Gracie Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai Kickboxing to address common scenarios encountered by women and teens. We cover verbal self-defense, mental/emotional readiness, and the physical techniques for self-protection.

Gracie Jiu Jitsu was specifically developed to defend a smaller person against a larger opponent. Many physical altercations end up on the ground, and Jiu Jitsu trains a broad range of powerful and effective techniques from the ground, building confidence and calm even in challenging situations. We also cover numerous standing self-defense techniques designed to prevent and defend against being held, moved, or pinned.


Everyone is welcome! This class is designed for women of all ages, as well as teens ages 12 and up. No previous experience or fitness level is required, and most members begin with no prior martial arts background.


Each class covers a series of self-defense scenarios or “puzzles,” incorporating specific situations or concerns that students may want to address. We work through these scenarios in a relaxed, friendly, and low-pressure environment that is welcoming to all. We cultivate confidence and strength, get a great workout, and have fun!
